It’s not often that you get good laundry advice from a guy like me. It’s not often you get good laundry advice from any guy. Period. But I’ve got something good that I need to share with you- Dr. Bronners Peppermint Castille Soap.
Add a small amount to your favorite free and clear laundry detergent and you will be quite impressed, I promise.

When I say add a small amount I usually just eyeball a couple of dollops, but a quarter to half cup of the Peppermint soap will do the trick.
I embarked on this journey towards better and safer laundry practices a few years ago when I started to experience mysterious skin irritations on my arms, chest and legs. My first line of defense was to change our laundry detergent to something more natural…. free of dyes and fragrances.
There are plenty of options out there these days for laundry detergents that mare designed to better serve people with sensitive skin. I tried quite a few.
Here is an article with a list of great Free & Clear options….
THE BEST LAUNDRY DETERGENTS FOR SENSITIVE SKIN OF 2020: https://www.reviewed.com/laundry/best-right-now/the-best-laundry-detergents-for-sensitive-skin
The problem I faced is that I wasn’t ever satisfied with the overall effectiveness of the natural detergents. I knew they were better for my skin… and the environment…. but my clothes just didn’t always come out smelling clean.
Enter Dr. Bronner.
I read somewhere that you can use the Dr Bronner Castille Soap as a laundry detergent and we just so happened to have a bottle in the house so I poured a bit in the washing machine. When the wash was done all I could smell was Peppermint. The entire ROOM smelled like peppermint. I was kind of worried at this point because I wasn’t sure that was the effect I was looking for.
BUT… when the clothes came out of the dryer the peppermint smell was pretty much gone and so were all the odors embedded in my dirty laundry. So my clothes were not saturated with some phoney synthetic fragrance but they smelled… “neutral.” The peppermint did in fact neutralize the odors. Thats saying a lot because not only do I have smell clothes from my workouts but we have two dogs who love to stink up a good blanket. I’m telling right now, that Dr. Bronners Peppermint Castille soap will kill pretty any odor…. including stinky dog smell.
Now I use it with every load. I keep a bottle on top of the washing machine full time. Highly recommend.
One more thing I’d like to add about the Dr. Bronner company…
The family-owned maker of the top-selling natural brand of soap in North America, recently launched its “Heal Soul” campaign to support public education efforts, advocacy organizations and political campaigns around the country working to mainstream psychedelic-assisted therapy and medicines to treat depression, PTSD, addiction and end-of-life anxiety.

“Our world is grappling with epidemics of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction that modern pharmaceutical approaches often fail to adequately address,” said David Bronner, Cosmic Engagement Officer (CEO) of Dr. Bronner’s, in a press release. “Psychedelic-assisted therapy is life-saving medicine that the world needs now, especially highly traumatized populations like veterans, first responders and marginalized communities generally.” https://wholefoodsmagazine.com/news/dr-bronners-heal-soul-campaign-supports-psychedelic-assisted-therapy-medicine/
I love learning about how companies like Dr. Bronners are making concerted efforts to have a positive impact in our society, our communities and our lives.
Thank you Dr. Bronners for all that you do. Thank you for your service.
Try using their Peppermint Castille Soap in your laundry. You will be wildly…. or maybe just mildly impressed.
